Kim Wright-Violich

Kim Wright-Violich is a Managing Partner at Tideline and co-leads the firm’s strategy, operations and client engagement. Prior to Tideline, Kim was the CEO of Schwab Charitable, a stand-alone nonprofit corporation founded by Charles Schwab & Co. to provide turnkey charitable asset management and philanthropic services to investors. Under her leadership, Schwab Charitable grew from a start-up to $3.5 billion in assets and over $5 billion in charitable contributions, serving over 25,000 investors and their wealth advisors.

While at Schwab Charitable, Kim pioneered an offer that enabled independent Registered Investment Advisors to manage the assets in individual donor advised fund (DAF) accounts allowing for custom portfolios and alternative assets including impact assets. This led Schwab Charitable to develop a risk assessment and performance monitoring methodology and tools to oversee the management of the charitable assets. She also led innovations in the impact investment arena having launched a first-of-its-kind guarantee fund for social impact using DAF assets. Kim was named one the 50 most influential women in the US for 2009 in wealth management by Wealth Manager magazine and she serves on a variety of private company and non-profit boards. Kim earned a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University. She also completed the executive MBA-SEP program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, post-graduate work at the Mass Media Institute at Stanford, as well as coursework in governance at Harvard Business School.
